EPISODE 9: CAN A THIRD GREAT AWAKENING SAVE AMERICA FROM ITSELF?

In the early 18th Century, a Great Awakening spread from England and into the American colonies suggesting to slave owners that it was their duty to educate their slaves in the virtues of Christianity. Sixty years later, a Second Great Awakening triggered the beginning of the end of chattel slavery in Western Civilization. This surge in religiosity, with the Quakers as the moral leaders, caused Great Britain to, not only end the slave trade, but to become its greatest foe. Eventually, this movement caused Americans in the north to see slaves as people, people that were entitled to the same freedoms as they, leading to the Civil War. In 2025, religiosity has waned again, and a new movement, a Third Great Awakening is emerging to provide the same moral clarity. Can this new movement save America from itself?
